Solidarity Shares
In partnership with Shared Ground Farmers Co-op
and Divine Natural Ancestry
What is a Solidarity Share?
"Solidarity" because everyone should be able to eat healthful, locally grown, delicious vegetables regardless of their financial means... But the truth is, that most CSA members are white, middle to upper class folks with disposable income. We are asking our financially privileged membership to participate in a little redistribution of wealth by donating to Food For The People CSA. You can donate in any amount!

What will my Solidarity Share donation actually do?
In 2020, Food For The People distributed 62 CSA boxes at no cost to working class, Black, Indigenous and community members of color for 18 weeks.
In 2021, Food For The People is planning to distribute 100 boxes for an 18 week CSA season and are expanding the program overall. They will offer on farm educational days, build raised beds and supply growing materials for program members, and curate culturally relevant recipes/videos.

How it works:
You use the PayPal "Donate" button below (or from the CSA Sign-Up page, after you register).
We will keep track of all those donations, and give the funds collected to Shared Ground Farmers Co-op who (in partnership with Divine Natural Ancestry) are organizing Food For The People.
Shared Ground will then use that funding to buy  produce directly from a diverse pool of local farmers, and Divine Natural Ancestry will distribute food within low income BIPOC communities around the Twin Cities.

Who are Shared Ground Farmers Co-op and Divine Natural Ancestry?
Shared Ground Farmers' Co-op is a marketing and distribution cooperative owned by six farms in the Twin Cities region. A core objective is a strong commitment to making environmentally sustainable farming a living wage job for any who choose to pursue it. especially for minority, immigrant, and beginning farmers.
Divine Natural Ancestry is a urban and rural food justice project focused on BIPOC healing through land; providing free produce to marginalized communities in the Twin Cities; and engaging community through food shares, healing events, and free community dinners.

Directly from Food For The People:
"The mission of the Food for the People program is to provide locally grown food to Black, Indigenous, and communities of color while supporting a cooperative of local, diverse farmers to earn a living wage. We believe everyone should have access to locally and responsibly grown farm food, not just those with financial wealth. We believe that operating a small farm and feeding your local foodshed should be a dignified job, not one of poverty and scarcity. Our program has specific aims to build enduring relationships with those most disenfranchised by our current food system in order to transform it."
